Behind Of All Trades
Meet Lizzy Robinson
About
Lizzy is the artist behind Of All Trades. She is currently based in Austin, Texas where she lives with her husband, Seth, and dog, TJ. Ever since she was a little kid, she’s loved art of all kinds. Some of her most vivid memories of growing up involve afternoons spent in the laundry room of her parents’ home, making all sorts of odd treasures: textile creations with needle and thread, bottle cap jewelry, cardboard houses, and lots and lots of paintings. One of her favorite creations was the annual ‘lotion potion’ she made for her sister each Christmas - a quirky blend of all her leftover lotions, bottled up with a homemade label. With that being said, she’s always desired using her hands to create things she could share with others.
For much of her life, she’s used making as a creative outlet; however, as she’s grown older, she’s turned this making pastime into something that can be shared with other people. Lizzy has recently collaborated with many small businesses and organizations to create custom illustrations and designs, while also pursuing her desire to build a collector base in more regions of the country. Whether you are an individual looking for art to fill your home, or a business hoping to add a creative touch to your brand, she is your “Jack Of All Trades.”
Artist Statement
My hope as a mixed media artist is to connect with others by exploring the awe, reverence, and wonder of simple, everyday moments. These moments are often tied to my own memories, and depict life as I see it, as well as how I feel it. With that being said, my process can vary greatly from piece to piece. While some pieces convey how I see the world around me, more literally, the process is slow and precise. Pieces that reflect how the world makes me feel are often much more messy and free-flowing, both in style and process. I believe there is beauty found in both. Rather than narrowing myself down, I desire to practice each style and process, despite the differences between them. Additionally, I enjoy exploring new mediums, in order to expand my experiences as an artist. I feel that creating is always a process; therefore, there is always more to learn and new ways to grow. My art is created from a place of affection for the people, places, and moments around me, and it is my hope that others feel a sense of tenderness and familiarity in all my work.
